iPhone Software and Maps

Postby Мастер » Thu Aug 29, 2013 12:38 am

Perhaps you remember all the bad publicity Apple got when they replaced Google Maps with their own version in their operating system for the iPhone. General consensus was, the Apple version sucked.

For this reason, I've been resisting that annoying little "1" that shows up whenever I look at the settings icon on my phone - it is telling me that there is an update, and that update is the new version of the operating system, which would come with the Apple maps. I haven't installed it. The "1" has become a semi-permanent fixture on my phone.

Supposedly, Apple has been working hard to remedy the defects of their map software, apparently with some success. Does anyone here have any experience with it? Should I finally update?

Me neither. I'm such a dufus when it comes to modern palm-pilot technology.

You can update it just to get rid of the "1" but you'll end up using the Google Maps app for now. I'm sure it will get there eventually, but for now it's still rather spotty.

I've never bought an Apple product. I do have an ipod, but Cisco gave me that :) :-)

I did update and got rid of the "1", but it's back now.

My work is finally going to give me a gratis palm pilot. Dunno what sort yet. Next 'dunno' will be how to use it.

I dunno what I'm talking about. That's how much I dunno.

I haven't even seen the gizmo yet. I just called in a palm thingy because I'm stuck in the '90s

I got a note in my annual pay packet increase letter thingy saying 'Tubeswell, You have been approved for a phone'. Now everybody else who has been 'approved for a phone' there has these fancy modern WiFi iPhone things that get mail, book appointments, cruise the net etc, but despite this, 'palm pilot' was the 1st concept that manifested itself in my subconsciousness. So I must have been still half asleep.

Anyway, whatever it is it'll save me having to use my own phone palm piloty thingy

Now you too can ignore the world around you and bury your nose in a small screen like the rest of the drones.
