To Boldly Go

Postby Lianachan » Tue Oct 12, 2021 6:06 pm

So, Bill Shatner is going to (the edge of) space tomorrow in a sub-orbital flight. Assuming nothing blows up on the way there, he’ll become the oldest person ever to go in to space. Anybody else think this is very cool indeed?

I enjoyed his remark that he was excited to go up there, but disappointed that he had to come back down.

I liked his pragmatism. Yes, he'd go up if they insisted, if he didn't have to foot the bill.

Whatever, he is unbelievably fit for an overweight nonagenarian, all the more power to him.

The other three in the craft are wearing red, which isn't a good sign.

Never mind, they aren't on an EVA. That's where thee bad stuff happens. Scotty wore red for ages and he survived long enough to get stranded on a Dyson sphere.

Well I just watched them take off and return. Still marveling that the booster comes back and lands on its tail.

Montreal’s favourite son didn’t die.

So 55 years after he was Captain Kirk, he flies in space.

My Mum said if my Dad had been a few seconds quicker I'd have been shot into space . . .

I’m really wishing you hadn’t said that.

Let’s instead look at the pictures I posted in another thread. Which could result in potential future generations being shot into space.

I know a truck driver who pulled out to avoid a child, and was injured. Fell off the couch and broke his arm.

So, back on the spaceflight, I'd be concerned that there would be a long delay on launch, and then I'd be really tired, and sleep through the flight.

The South Park guys are probably having a good laugh that it ends up being Bezos who puts 'Kirk' into space (or thereabouts).
