Apple charged over anti-competitive policies
Posted: Fri Apr 30, 2021 2:56 pmOn one hand, allowing multiple app stores to serve a particular platform would be the capitalist solution. On the other, it's already a pain in the ass for developers to jump through all the hoops for the few current app stores.
End users can sideload apps from various sources, but this a little riskier for both developers and end users. The end user doesn't have the same guarantees and protections against malicious apps, and developer's competitors can more easily trick end users into downloading their app instead.
