Catch 22

George Clooney is making a tv version of this, things I know will happen:
It will be George and his mates having fun in Italy.
George (who is directing) cannot tell the difference between him having fun and the audience having fun.
Everyone will be too old for the parts they are playing.
There will be no subtlety.

It's a difficult book to film-but I agree w/you especially about the first 2 points.

It is difficult to do well, but with the right director and CGI it should be possible. I fear it will be Oceans 22.

Ha! I hope I'll remember to quote your foresight when the first sequel, 'Catch 23' comes out.

Saw an advert for this at the cinema, having had to take my son to an awful film he wanted to see. The advert filled me neither with dread, nor hopefulness. Entire thing looks like a pointless meh for me, at this stage.

(Cinema film was Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Or Big Stupid Monster Fight, as it should be known.)

I’m watching an episode of this. It is bland, no tension, no edge, no comedy. It is lovingly shot in a sort of old fashioned sepia tint but I might not even make it to the end of this episode.

Apparently the ending is left open ended, so it is possible.

It isn't actually bad for this, the aircrew are generally in their mid-20s. That is possibly the kindest thing I can say about it though.
