We saw the stage play of Trainspotting tonight. Very funny and poignant.

Last night theatrical experience was a South African troupe, in whiteface and blond wigs, explaining US frontier history. Why they thought they knew it better than we did I don’t know since it was patchy at best. I’m also unclear if whiteface for comedic purposes is ok. The Graun liked it for what that is worth.

Tonight's offering was Hamilton, for The Mem's birthday. To be honest I'd rather have gone thirty miles along the M8* but it wasn't my choice. It was ok-ish. Half an hour too long and written for a US/NYC audience.
Yes he's an immigrant, but it's 1770, everyone white is an immigrant.
NYC is not the greatest city in the world, it's 1770, it's a colonial backwater.
With no background knowledge of the period a lot made little sense. Jefferson hated the Treasury. Or maybe debt. Or maybe the Fed. I don't know which and I don't know why. But hey, here's the comedy king back again.
Eh, what do I know. Everyone else seemed to like it, or faked it so the cool kids would like them.
*to the town of Hamilton, but you all knew that being cosmopolitan people of the world.
