Yes, that is how it works here. I installed a
optional feature that keeps messages in the unread state until you actually read them.
One of the big gripes a lot of people have about phpBB is that once you leave the site you lose your place. With the addition of this feature, this is no longer the case. At the same time, if you
intentionally leave so anything you haven't read yet will be ignored when you return, it no longer works that way.
But all is not lost...
On the main index page below all the fora there is a link:
Mark all forums read
Which will mark all currently unread messages as read. If you click it before you leave, you will only see new messages when you return.
I understand this means an extra step for you and I apologize for that. In my opinion though, the problem
solved by the addition of this feature is much greater that any problems caused by it. I hope you understand.
