Closed: What is Meta-Redirection?

Why, when I go to a new thread do I get the white screen with the verbiage "If your browser does not support meta-redirection click here to be redirected"? Whether I click or not several seconds elapse before seeing the thread. It makes browsing this board very tiresome after a while.

It is embedded into the software me thinks, I don't like it much either but I deal with it...you get used to it.

Meta-redirection is an HTML thing, IIRC there's a tag for it that causes one page to auto-redirect to another; if your browser does not support it, you have to click the link. But yeah, several seconds seems a bit of a long countdown for a bulletin board.

It's one of three different ways to redirect. This one relies on <META> tags in the page header. It's also possible to redirect using Javascript; then of course there's my favorite type of redirect which is the PHP header("Location: x"); command. :D

Edit to add: I don't recall seeing META redirection on other phpBB boards; I wonder if this is something that was implemented for a specific reason?

Is that when Zubin comes to your door and you tell him that the concert is around the corner?

I fill in for my parents on their days off at the office. Taking payments from customers and mundane stuff like that.

Then I come home and code PHP, VB, C++, SQL, etc. :D

It's an effect, not a cause.

The server the board runs on is pretty slow, and sometimes it just takes longer to build a page than others. When that happens, you see the redirect page. It isn't the page that is slowing anything down. It is displayed when the board is running slow.

I have a server here that I need to reload which will hopefully speed things up a lot.
