General Board Weirdness

Let me know if something is not working, or you think something could be made better.

General Board Weirdness

Postby Мастер » Tue Jun 20, 2017 10:43 am

Sometimes the board "forgets" who I am, and I must log in again.

The last few days, any attempt to log in using the "Safari" browser met with an immediate error along the lines of "server reset the connection". Quite reliably, on computers, and on mobile devices. As long as the board remembered me, All was good, but once it "forgot" a particular device, that device remained "forgotten", no matter what I did.

That's with Safari. No such problem on Firefox.

This general weirdness now appears to be over, everything back to normal.

I did an update to the board software about a week or so ago. Perhaps that resolved it?

Defenitely more recent than that. Perhaps the update caused the problem; if so, the resolution remains a mystery.

There is a similar problem I have n my mobile phone (which runs Chrome): If I don't click on the "Remember me"/"Log me in autoamtically on each visit" box, then the server will accept my login, but log me out as soon as I go to any other page within the board. It does not happen with my desktop PC (running Firefox). I usually prefer to enter my login data each time I visit, so I can check each time.

This will delete all your cookies related to the board. Try it in each browser on each device where it's a problem.

Delete All Board Cookies

If that doesn't work you might try clearing all your cookies.

I also made a change to the cooking settings that will probably require everyone to log in again. Maybe that'll fix it.

Often happens with me. Damn 5-eyes network infiltrators!

Still happening. From the exact same computer, Safari fails every time, Firefox works.

The only thing I can suggest is to clear the cache and cookies in Safari.

It does seem to help - sometimes.

I did that the other day, and it worked.

Then the bad behaviour happened again today. Clearing cache and cookies had no effect at all the first time, but did work the second time.
