The latest is that he offed himself before the police broke into his room. Still no word on whether or not he's a terrorist, though - but he's had no previous run-ins with the law. On the other hand, IS claims that he is a recent convert to Islam.

The BBC helpfully speculated that he had recently converted to Islam, so maybe he'll be a terrorist yet.

ETA: Islamic State have claimed responsibility, but they'd claim responsibility for me running out of shampoo this morning if they knew about it. BBC reporting local police as saying the guy had one historical and minor traffic offence, and that's all. FBI saying no links to terrorism. Reuters claiming he had a history of psychological problems.
