No, he does look a lot like Yeltsin. I hadn't noticed before. It is widely assumed the Heath was gay as he never married but he was in power well before homosexuality was accepted, or even legal at the start of his career. I assume we have some openly gay politicians but offhand I can't think of any other than the Tory Leader in Scotland.

I'd say the fellow on the right looks a lot like Boris Yeltsin.

Janner dragged to court today. Whether he is doolally or not his accusers are getting their say.

Meanwhile Sweden says fuck it, 2010 is too long ago.

Justice Goddard sets out who she will probe. Churches, politicians, councils and children's homes mainly.

There is apparently no evidence of a cover up of accusations against Heath/Yeltsin, which means either there was no cover up or there is no evidence of it.

A different super-injunction which shows the stupidity of the law. Short version: Elton John is in an open relationship with his husband. Elton John had a consensual threesome with another couple, which his husband knew about. The other couple went to the papers. Elton John went to the courts and was granted a super-injunction which means the media in England and Wales can't even mention the existence of the injunction, never mind who was granted it. An appeal victory means they can now discuss the existence of the injunction but not name Elton John or give any clues as to Elton John's identity. This rumbles on in the courts despite anyone with even a passing interest knowing it is Elton John and US and Scottish newspapers publishing Elton John's name. The English media can't even say which Scottish newspaper it was, even though that newspaper is sold in hard copy across England. This has now passed the Streisand Effect and reached new levels of stupidity for so many reasons.

Edit for clarity.

P.S. it is Elton John.

This is funny. Prior to this post, I knew nothing of this. Never heard about it at all.

If not for the attempt to cover it up, it is likely I would have never become aware of it.

Hey, neither did I.

BTW, why is anyone interested in where a musician of some note buts his dick, when, and in whose company?

I don't care. What bothers me is that the courts pander to the rich by letting them take out injunctions so secret that their existence can't even be hinted at, and cloak this as an attempt to protect his child(ren) rather than an attempt to cover up the quite odd things* he gets up to. Then the courts insist on the injunction staying in place as if the print medium was the only way to disseminate information.

*involving a paddling pool, olive oil, and a short, fat, bald 69 year old. You're welcome.

That would be The Streisand Effect.

I totally get that, and agree. It was just a general remark about how the whole shit wouldn't have started if people weren't interested in what a fat, bald, short 69 yo does with his dick to a bottle of olive oil. Sigh.

Oh, I hear you. It is the abuse of the process that rips my knitting. If I fuck up the papers can publish anything they choose. If Ryan Giggs shags his brother's wife he can take out a super-injunction to stop anyone finding out, simply because he has the money to do so.

Of course, as indicated above, quite the opposite happens and more people find out than would have without all that fuss.

Only because the media won their appeal, if they had lost, or not appealed then no-one would ever have known. About Elton John. And a paddling pool full of olive oil.

The only worthwhile or accurate thing Jeremy Clarkson has ever said:

Injunctions don’t work. You take out an injunction against somebody or some organisation and immediately news of that injunction and the people involved and the story behind the injunction is in a legal-free world on Twitter and the Internet. It’s pointless.

I hate to agree with Jeremy Clarkson but that is true of injunctions, it is also why we have super-injunctions where there existence rarely comes out.
