He was one of the funny guys that made TV so great.

In my youth, he'd be there waiting for me every day when I got home from school.

I'll miss him.

Don't forget one of his more interesting roles - Maynard Krebs.

No reason for them naming the character Maynard G. Krebs. Mind you, that was late 1950's/early 1960's television (probably before your time).

Have you ever watched the Many Loves of Dobie Gillis show? It can be amusing at times. The show holds up quite well for it's age.

I wonder how much he got in royalties from Survivor. The shows are identical so he must have been getting something.

I'm just surprised that nobody in the original could spot the cameras. I mean, they were so much larger than they are today that I would think they could be spotted easily.

They were removed by the same people who did the Apollo touch-up work.

That brings up the question of the ages...where did Mary Ann get the flour and eggs to make a coconut cream pie?

Also...how did they manage to never wear out the clothes they wore...come on...after a few months even a pair of Levis starts to look worn.

Never mind that, who in their right mind wouldn't kill, or at least restrain, Gilligan about the 4th or 5th time he messed up a sure thing rescue attempt?

Dumb thought: It hurts to hear it for the first time, doesn't it? I remember when Phil Hartman died. I was crushed, and my friend, Julie, made light of it. I told her that I live most of my life via TV and movies, so Phil was very special to my heart. She still doesn't understand the pain that I felt. She thinks everyone lives completely in the real world.

Death is part of the real world even when it happens to someone famous for being an actor. When I was a kid, I can remember getting off the school bus and running to get home in time for our old tv to warm up for Gilligans Is. He and the other castaways were a part of my life. Its like an old favorite uncle died, a part of my life is gone.
