PERU JET CRASHES IN JUNGLE, AT LEAST 40 DEAD

LIMA, Peru (Reuters) - A Peruvian passenger jet crashed during a severe storm in Peru's northeastern jungle on Tuesday, killing at least 40 people, police said.

I had calls about this through the night. It's not a Code Share or Star Alliance of United Airlines.

Look at the history of this airline.

It just freaks me out that such a thing happens to an airplane. I guess if it hits a bunch of trees, then anythings possible.

Weak point - every airliner has at least a couple where one section of fuselage was spliced onto another.

There was a DC-10 years ago that ran long at BOS. Ended up in the water - the nose section broke off. That airplane flew again, if I remember correctly.

United had an EMPTY airplane (747) tip nose up last weekend in SFO. I don't know the details, but it was human (mechanics) error. OPB called me to inform Reservations, but I didn't blast it across the system. I didn't think it would hit the NEWS several hours later. I was wrong.
