I didn't know about any of the stand up routines. I only knew him from Bill & Ted.

Later, Rufus.

His humour was brilliant. It made you laugh, think and sometimes squirm, all at the same time. Thanks, George.

He also hosted Shining Time Station and lent his voice to many Thomas the Tank Engine stories (released in the US, anyway), as well as voicing the character Fillmore in Cars.

I'll always chuckle a little bit when I see his name on my kids' Thomas videos - the same guy who did the seven dirty words.

You will be missed, George.

Today the world has lost some of its funny; George Carlin has passed away. Expired. Suffered a terminal episode. Experienced a negative patient care outcome. Croaked.

I fuzzily recall him being on Shining Time Station, and it makes me laugh. It's hard to reconcile that voice on a children's show being the same one that has to be bleeped every other word in other television appearances.

And to think he got his start not far from here, at a radio station in Shreveport La. Where he got in trouble for playing Elvis Presley records!! He was also in the Air Force stationed at Barksdale AFB. His picture is still in the BAFB history book. The official AF publication says he was a warehouse clerk, who was released from military service to pursue other interests. Local lore, passed around for years, says he was kicked out because he was coming to work high all the time. But I find that hard to believe, a member of the U.S. Air Force coming to work high, hard to believe.

We saw him live a year ago or so in Detroit. Tickets were a Xmas gift.

Bye George.

He was a wonderful person and truly gifted. He'll be missed by more than we know.

My livejournal friend's list was liberally festooned with the Seven Words yesterday.
