Jaws strikes again.

A 66-year-old man died early Friday after being attacked by what authorities suspect was a great white shark off the southern California coast.

This is tragic, and I do not make light of it.

Although many humans regard the ocean as their playground, it is in reality a deadly and grim arena.

Ironically, the top predator is ... man.

City officials noted, however, that they were not trying to capture or kill the shark. Great white sharks are protected by law in California.
