James "Scotty" Doohan, 85, what can you say, other than

I always feel so sorry for performers known for a single role. it's not quite as bad as when DeForest Kelley died (he'd been in over 100 films and TV shows!), but I mean, the man had a career going back over 50 years. (I looked it up. granted, there's not much that's great in it, but still.)

so, then, a moment of silence for the typecast--and poor, noble James Doohan, Scottie even in death.

What would be nice would be if they could put his ashes on the New Horizons probe to the outer solar system. Then he could really go where "no one has gone before".

Scotty was quite an engineer. He had a kid when he was 80. He knew how to keep that old impulse drive from flying apart. 8)
