Unlike most contenders they are at least building infrastructure and locating everything in a relatively small area. Most Olympics are in a number of small resorts, usually at the head of a one road in valley. Turin was the classic example, hellish transport difiiculties.
Sochi are trying to put as much as they can within walking/short bus ride distance.

The competitors from Japan are going to like this; whenever anyone asks which way they need to go, they can point in the direction and say "sochira Sochi ni".

I need one of these smileys for when someone makes a joke about math or furrin' languages or any of that other hard stuff.

Hah! Babel Fish translates "sochira Sochi ni" as "sochira Sochi ni."

Not very helpful...

Actually I had sochira ("that way") and kochira ("this way") mixed up. #-o "Ni" just means towards, at, or in.

And furrin languages are not hard! :P (Well, other than Greek anyway....)

It must be hard to find people with whom one can practice. Unless you happen to live in Iceland.

That's true though. Especially the spelling and pronunciation; I for one would advocate a more eghotiont writing system.
