Breatharianism

I came across this most bizarre belief/practice; adherents believe they can live on light alone. From the Wikipedia page,

Nutritional science indicates that fasting for extended periods leads to starvation, dehydration, and eventual death.

I suspect that even most people who are not nutritional scientists would be in generally broad agreement with the above conclusion.

Mr. Wiley Brooks appears to recognise that new practitioners will need some kind of transitional period, from his website:

Brooks explains that the "Double Quarter-Pounder with Cheese" meal from McDonald's possesses a special "base frequency" and that he thus recommends it as occasional food for beginning breatharians.

You may contact him on his fifth-dimensional telephone to ask about it.

Valeria Lukyanova, the self-styled Ukrainian Barbie doll, is trying to take it up.

More fucking nonsense. The "life coach" I know studied here, it is odd when the yoga teachers seem the most rational and sensible. "Literally infectious positive energy"? My jacksie.

And just for Lianachan: "Our firewalk with ecstatic Celtic bagpipes will then be the final ingredient of magic for Planting Dreams of Magic Midsummer Firewalk." Because it is on "Ancient Celtic ground". Or Scotland as it is usually known.

*provokes Lianachan into Celtic is a language group not ethnicity rant*

Breatharianism, well described at RationalWiki.

I'll spare you the full rant but yes, a language group then a group of vaguely overlapping cultural traits. Never, but NEVER, an ethnicity.
