You informed me, and I appreciate it.

I'd never heard of this before.

Best "lock" ever: a sign over the door that says, "Believe in an afterlife? Trespass here and find out!"

You all wouldn't believe me if I told you, but I actually bumped a lock today. Not only that, but a deadbolt lock...and not only that, I did it with an unmodified key.

Yes, that's right...since I knew when I actually did it no one would believe me, so I snapped a little pic for good measure:

Anyone who fallows my activity as of late knows that I've been sanding doors for a few months now (number 90 done tomorrow) getting close to the end, naturally, I encounter a door that's never been open, and for a reason...it doesn't have a little turn nob, oh no...it has a dual core setup, or a key receptacle on both sides to turn the bolt. Bugger. I don't have a key.

Then it hit me, I could see if I have a key that fits, modify it and bump it open. So I go get a set of keys which were given to me by someone who moved to another job (all locks they belonged to were replaced, thus useless) so I checked them out, only one fit. So I looked at it and the Vally in the back part of the key and noticed it was cut abnormally low to begin with, so I thought what the hay, I'll try bumping it without modifying it just to see what happens.

After approx. 10 tries, it opened. I repeated the process 2 more times within 5 minutes just to test the failure rate. Not bad.

Be afraid, be very afraid.

That is amazing, and yeah, a little bit scary. Conventional locks really are useless. Crap.

The version I heard was an official looking sign that says "Security by Smith and Wesson."

Of course, not allowable in Canada.

Nothing says "Get the fuck offa my property" like an AK47!

Or maybe a 12 gauge pump ...

My security weapon of choice is a bolt-action shotgun (yes, they make them.) It makes quite an impressive sound when you slide the bolt.

Haven't the foggiest--I've never watched Tremors all the way through. But I'm guessing, no. I don't like guns. At all. However, Himself insists that I know how to use at least one, for self defense. That one is the shotgun. And yeah, I think I'd use it if it came down to it.

You HAVE to watch Tremors all the way through! It's really a B-Movie classic - great fun, lots of goo, plus tongue-in-cheek acting and humour throughout the whole thing.

The sequels; not so much.

But the first is a fun ride.

The second was ok, but yea...the first is defiantly one of my favorite films, especially for being B class.

Rotten Tomatoes gives it a rating of 88% for the critics, and that's saying a lot.
